Dr. Cohen is a graduate of the prestigious University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine and has been in practice for nearly 35 years. He was awarded the coveted AAHA Student Achievement award for his outstanding scholastic and clinical performance. He continued his post-graduate veterinary medical and surgical training at the worlds’ largest animal hospital, the Animal Medical Center of New York (AMC). He eventually became the Head, Section of Cardiology and Director of Clinics at that world-class facility. After leaving the AMC, he formed an innovative high-tech consulting service for veterinarians which evolved into the largest provider of veterinary consulting services in the world. He came to Staten Island in 1988 to develop several private practices including Rosebank Veterinary Practice and South Shore Veterinary Practice. Drs. Cohen and Cavallaro relocated their practice to the new, larger and advanced facility in 2002.

Dr. Cavallaro is a 1992 Graduate from Mississippi State University. She is the recipient of the President Scholar Award for Excellence in Academic Achievement two years consecutively.
Dr. Cavallaro was formerly the Medical Director of South Shore Veterinary Medical Practice from 1995 until she moved her rapidly growing practice to the larger state of the art facilities of Bay St. Animal Hospital in 2002. She is a senior partner and Medical Director at our practice.
Dr. Cavallaro is considered by her professional peers as an extraordinarily gifted veterinarian. Her genuinely heartfelt manner and empathetic nature sets the tone for our animal hospital. Coupled with her track record of 17 years of veterinary medical excellence, she is sought out by many Staten Islanders to provide expert health care for their beloved pets.

Dr Donchik is a Brooklyn native who received a BS degree at Brooklyn College before entering The University of Parma (Italy) where he received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1984. He worked for 20 years as a Director of Bay Ridge Animal Hospital which he left in late 2004 to join Bay St. Animal Hospital. “He is one of the most gifted veterinary surgeons in the area,” according to Dr. Cohen, one of the founders of Bay Street Animal Hospital, “and he brings a tremendous set of skills to our animal hospital.”

Dr. Gordon is a 1983 graduate of New York University and finished his veterinary doctorate at Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine. He completed a one-year extern/internship at Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. He was the owner and chief of staff at All Pets Animal Hospital for 25 years until merging his practice with Bay St. Animal Hospital in 2008. Dr. Gordon is a certified provider of Stem Cell Therapy and is in charge of House Call Services for Bay Street Animal Hospital.

Dr. Pasquale Meleleo is a long-time Staten Island resident who graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from The City University of New York. He continued his studies at Cornell University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, where he received a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine, and was selected at graduation to receive the James Gordon Bennett Prize for his careful, humane use of anesthesia to relieve pain in animal patients.
During his studies at Cornell, Dr. Meleleo took time to do several externships in dentistry, medicine, and surgery at the Animal Medical Center where he worked with, and learned from, some of today’s leaders in veterinary medicine.
Dr. Meleleo began working at Bay Street Animal Hospital in 2003 as a veterinary technician, continuing during breaks from his studies at Cornell University, and decided to return to BSAH once his education was complete. His knowledge of the practice, familiarity with the hospital’s patients, and world-class education make him a perfect addition to the healthcare team.
